Jeanie Marie Buss (born Jeanie Marie Buss) is a famous American woman in business. Her current position is that as president of the Los Angeles Lakers, the National Basketball Association's controlling owners. Buss is a native of California and was raised as part of a wealthy family. Jerry Buss was her father. Jerry Buss started out as a realty tycoon before becoming the owner of the Lakers. The emotional strain she felt was exacerbated as her parents divorced in 1972. At the age 19 she was appointed the General Manager for the Los Angeles Strings, a professional tennis club. She founded later in the Los Angeles Blades, a professional roller-hockey team. She was director of the Great Western Forum before assuming the role of vice-president for the Lakers. Her father passed away in 2013 and his controlling control for the Lakers was passed on to Buss and her five siblings by a trust of the family that gave each sibling equal voting rights.
